CQM Training & Consultancy Ltd are set to see over 170 apprentices employed across 6 Arla Foods UK sites graduate with an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Dairy Food Manufacturing Excellence (DFME). The highly successful DFME apprenticeship forms part of the Project Eden programme, a major new initiative led by the dairy industry, supported by the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink UK.

Project Eden will enable UK based companies to train their staff to become tomorrow’s dairy leaders. The cross industry programme brings together employees from a variety of organisations to share learning and build a new future for the dairy industry.

Focusing on building process improvement skills, CQM T&C’s delivery of the DMFE apprenticeship embeds a culture of sustainable continuous improvement across all sites, to support the technical skills and key science principles gained by employees. The training programme ensures employees will graduate as dairy specialists with significant expertise and a real commitment to the industry.

The first wave of DFME has been a tremendous success with CQM T&C’s second wave of training due to start imminently. To date, those participating on the DFME at Arla have achieved impressive six figure savings, and enthusiasm for the training is apparent across all levels of the business.

Richard Kershaw, Site Director Arla Oakthorpe commented “Deploying a significant technical training pilot plan has been a long term commitment and desire to add deep dairy skills within a lean environment here at Oakthorpe, a well-established Arla site. It has pushed production targets in the right direction, met some significant challenges within retailer audits and produced a best site accolade for our CI targets.”
Jo Kershaw, Site Director Arla Ayelsbury “The team have worked relentlessly in developing our colleagues and it is paying back, not just in production targets but also with the idea that Arla Foods is really committed to its people and producing great tasting and nutritious dairy products.”
