We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated young person who is 17 or 18 years of age, to join our growing, fast paced company.

As a Young Management Operations Improvement Apprentice you will develop the skills and knowledge required to become an integral part of the manufacturing operations team with various career options, such as industrial engineer, lean manufacturing specialist or continuous improvement champion. You will learn how to establish the root cause of problems and identify areas for improvement in your work environment. You can expect to work both individually (when appropriately trained) and as part of the operations team –taking responsibility for the quality, safety and accuracy of the work you undertake.


What will this apprenticeship offer me?

Our operations improvement apprenticeship programme offers you the chance to study towards nationally recognised qualifications while gaining valuable, paid work experience. You will work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Manufacturing with the potential to go on to further study.

The apprenticeship lasts for 18 months.

What does a Young Management Operations Improvement Apprenticeship involve?

During the apprenticeship you will study the theory of operations improvement, first touch engineering and lean manufacturing as well as safety and risk management. You will complete a series of on-site job rotations, learning how to operate the different equipment that makes our medical devices–You will be aligned to our UK manufacturing site, combining on-the-job learning with a programme of training and development. Your role might involve:

  • Identifying areas for improvement
  • Root causing problems
  • Supporting manufacturing processes
  • Ensuring quality, safety and accuracy

Young Management Operations Improvement Apprentice Job Description

Location: BVI, Bidford-on-Avon

Type of Position: Permanent

Within a small and friendly process engineering department, you will need attention to detail and be able to work under pressure to identify and complete operations/manufacturing improvement projects. The ideal applicant will be computer literate, a good communicator, team player and interested in gaining qualifications in production and manufacturing operations.

Key Tasks

  • Demonstrate care and attention to work in several operational departments to manufacture the company’s products
  • Investigate and analyse the company’s production processes, propose improvements, complete improvement projects and support the validation of new processes.
  • Continue to increase knowledge of all company products through job rotation
  • Carry out lean manufacturing improvement tasks
  • Develop knowledge of company quality policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Ensure inter-departmental communication is fully met.


You will be eligible if you currently hold GCSEs certificates in A, B or C grades in Maths and English Language or Functional Skills at Level 2 in Maths and English, plus a GCSE in A, B, C in a science subject. Are currently 17 or 18 years of age and live within commuting distance of postcode B504JH, Bidford-on-Avon.

Your qualifications will be verified during the application process. Next to the academic qualifications we are looking for an enthusiasm for engineering and manufacturing, an analytical skill set, motivation and team working skills.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have GCSEs in Maths and English and a Science subject GCSE grades A-C
  • Interested in gaining a qualifications in production and manufacturing operations
  • PC literate for data entry on an in-house system
  • Can demonstrate a logical approach to work
  • Good communication skills to liaise with other departments
  • Able to listen, understand and carry out instructions
  • Ability to work on own initiative and within the team
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Must have a flexible approach to work, with the ability to multi task
  • An open mind to further training and development
  • Able to travel independently to work.
