Blueprint for Excellence - the new food industry tool to boost business and staff performance

Blueprint for Excellence, a new interactive online tool that maps individual staff, team and even business-wide competency levels against the best in the industry, is to be exclusively previewed at Foodex by the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink.

Created with input from leading UK food and drink manufacturers, the new Blueprint tool provides firms with a positive platform to engage with staff and identify which parts of their business make the grade in terms of high-performance leadership, management, technical competency, functional skills, attitudes and behaviours.

Using data based on top workplace performers and specifically designed for food and drink manufacturers, Blueprint allows firms to make smarter use of staff development budgets by targeting areas of the business that will produce the best return.

“It’s no coincidence that the best performing businesses tend to have the best performing people – but until now, it’s been difficult to pinpoint and measure what makes certain people and certain teams into workplace stars,” said Catherine Wright, who led development of the Skills Academy‘s new system.

“Through Blueprint, it’s now possible to show what excellence looks like in terms of the competence levels needed to sustain a consistently high level of job performance, across a range of job roles common in all food and drink companies. It’s a golden key to unlocking personal performance potential.

“Blueprint outputs provide an objective baseline from which to target training and skills investment when striving for a step change in operational and overall business performance. It enables firms to use training and development resource where they will have most impact in terms of improved productivity, reduced labour costs, positive staff engagement and better staff retention.”
