Transforming Delivery & Driving Sustainability: Carlsberg Britvic’s Lean Six Sigma Journey with CQM Training & Consultancy
When Carlsberg Britvic, a beverage powerhouse and home to some of the UK’s most iconic and popular beers and soft drinks, set out to streamline their operations, it needed a structured approach to support its continuous improvement ambitions.
Its solution? Working closely with CQM Training & Consultancy to deliver an effective Lean Six Sigma Green Belt programme focussed on creating value, reducing waste and driving improvement.
In our latest video case study, we caught up with Mark Young, Head of Continuous Improvement and two delegates; Louise Rewcastle-Adams, Category Demand Manager S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning), who completed the programme last year, and Steve Stanton, Continuous Improvement Specialist, currently on the latest Lean Six Sigma Green Belt programme to share their experiences and the impact the course has had.
Real Improvements Through Real Projects
For example, in this video case study, Louise provides unique insight on the challenges in efficiency and sustainability she faced with her work-based project, as the team had been grappling with a stalled project for three years. Through the Green Belt programme, she gained the tools and confidence to finally bring it to life. Armed with accurate data, structured methodologies, and fresh insight, she was able to present a robust proposal to a key customer – resulting in:
• 50.2 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved*
• 359 fewer trucks on the road*
• Improved service performance
• Stronger customer satisfaction
* Britvic internal data moving to full truck loads
Creating Value and Reducing Costs

Delegates praised the delivery of the programme and the expertise of their trainer, describing the sessions as “engaging,” “simple to understand,” and “enjoyable.” One participant highlighted how the programme not only built their own capability in continuous improvement but also created wider ripple effects – customers even began asking them to train their own teams.
Beyond the clear business benefits, the Green Belt experience was described as transformational, shifting mindsets and boosting morale across Carlsberg Britvic.
CQM’s accredited and supportive approach is proving instrumental in empowering Carlsberg Britvic’s team to drive smart, sustainable change – and leaves a legacy that extends far beyond the training room as part of a wider cultural and mindset change.
“Two years ago, we identified the need for structured training that could enhance our improvement projects and drive business change across all levels of the organisation, the quality of CQM’s training and their ability to coach it effectively into our teams really set them apart.“
“The transformation in how our teams now approach their work has been incredible. CQM’s training didn’t just help us hit target or boost outputs; it fundamentally changed the way people think and feel about their roles.
The techniques gained through the course have empowered us to step back, see the bigger picture and make real, impactful improvements. This shift in mindset is massive – not just for individuals but for Carlsberg Britvic as a whole.”
