When it comes to leadership and management courses, pro-active companies are always looking for viable ways to improve their revenue while increasing customer and client satisfaction. Six Sigma is a methodology and approach to help reduce defects and glitches in business processes and systems in order to achieve these two goals. It uses a data-driven and disciplined approach to eliminate any discovered defects.
The 5 stages of Six Sigma
For process improvement and correction, the approach includes five stages: DMAIC – Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. When it comes to process design and re-engineering, it is slightly altered to DMADV – Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Validate.
The benefits of Six Sigma
When implemented competently, Six Sigma results in several important and measurable benefits. As well as an increase in revenue and improved customer satisfaction levels, businesses can also benefit from reduced process variation, reduction in costs and a positive impact on employee morale. Indeed, employees will feel an increased sense of ownership and partnership that can also improve productivity and personal well-being.
How to get Six Sigma Certification
The first step to getting certified is to have already been involved in quality-related projects or lean management processes. Assuming this, there are then three levels of certification.
Yellow Belt is the basic entry-level certification. Next, the mid-level Green Belt requires three years of experience in the above-mentioned areas. Six Sigma Black Belt is the top-level certification and can be achieved via two possible routes. Firstly, one can have Green Belt requirements plus one completed project with a signed affidavit. Alternatively, one can have experience and evidence of two completed projects with affidavits.
Usually, the process of study and completion can take from one to three months.
Why get Six Sigma Certification?
The certification provides validation for employees skilled in identifying and eliminating a particular business process. In turn, this leads to all of the benefits mentioned above for a company or organisation.
