Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Exam
After a delegate has gone through our 8-day green belt training course, there will be a final exam that will need to be passed for them to be awarded their Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. The exam is made up of multiple choice questions which will test delegates on the principles of Lean, Six Sigma and the knowledge needed to improve the effectiveness of business projects.
Thanks to the level of training we provide and the optional coaching our team offers, we’re confident that everyone who attends all of the training sessions will be able to pass the exam. On the off chance that someone should fail the exam, our team will discuss with them what options are available for retaking it.
Workplace Project
Alongside the multiple-choice knowledge exam, each delegate is required to complete a workplace project, which forms a core part of the assessment for full Lean Six Sigma Green Belt accreditation (just theory is available without project work). This practical project is designed to embed and apply the tools, techniques, and thinking developed throughout the programme, while also delivering real, measurable value back to the business.
Delegates are supported by our Development Coach in identifying and selecting a suitable improvement project that aligns with organisational goals and presents a clear opportunity for process optimisation or cost reduction. The project must follow the structured DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control), providing a systematic approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Throughout the project, delegates receive tailored coaching support from one of our experienced Development Coaches. This ensures they remain on track, apply the tools correctly, and develop confidence in their capability as change agents.
On completion, delegates present their findings and outcomes back to key stakeholders within the organisation. The results, including quantified benefits and savings, are recorded on a Profit Improvement Plan (PIP). This plan is provided to the client for review and formal sign-off, offering a clear demonstration of return on investment and positive business impact.
Each project contributes not only to the individual’s development and accreditation, but also to a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt FAQs
What Is Lean Six Sigma?
Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a methodology used to improve business processes, based on the combination of two management ideologies, Lean and Six Sigma.
- Lean is a way of thinking that aims to reduce waste from any process to maximise customer satisfaction. This involves continuous improvement and incremental adjustments to achieve minimal waste and allow teams to work more efficiently.
- Six Sigma is a collection of methodologies which improve the quality of business processes and reduce the number of errors and defects. Its aim is a level of quality that is nearly perfect, with less than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. This quality is achieved using DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control).
Are There Any Prerequisites for the Green Belt Course?
There are no strict requirements to take our Lean Sigma Six Green Belt Course; however, delegates will need to have a good working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles. Ideally, individuals will have undertaken a Yellow Belt certification or at least a White Belt certification or Lean Awareness course, as this ensures the base level of knowledge around the LSS methodology is there.
